January 20, 2016
For the past 20 years, I have called Springfield my home --- first as a student at SIU School of Medicine, then as a surgeon with Springfield Clinic’s Orthopedic Group. Over time, I’ve grown close to friends and neighbors, colleagues and staff, and most especially, my patients. So, it is with mixed emotions that I am writing to announce I will leave Springfield Clinic effective April 15, 2016, and relocate to Colorado to be closer to my family.
The quality and continuity of your medical care are important to me, so I am working closely with the team at Springfield Clinic’s Orthopedic Group to ensure a smooth transition. If you require follow up care after April 15, Nicole Wirtz, PA-C, my physician assistant, or other lower extremity specialists in our group including Dr. Piero Capecci, Dr. Thomas Borowiecki, Dr. Diane Hillard-Sembell and Dr. Brett Wolters will be available to care for you. Dr. Capecci may be a new name to you since he recently joined our team, but he is well-qualified with more than 13 years of experience in knee, hip and shoulder surgery. I’m confident you would be in excellent hands with any of these providers.
If you have any questions about the transition of your care, I encourage you to call my office at 217.528.7541. Simply ask for my office or the Orthopedic Department and a member of our staff will be happy to help you.
For your convenience, your medical record will be automatically available to the Springfield Clinic provider of your choosing. You will need to contact the Correspondence Section of Springfield Clinic’s Health Information Management Department at 217.528.7541 or 800.444.7541, extension 43749 only if you transfer your care to a provider outside Springfield Clinic’s network.
As I close, please know how much your trust and confidence have meant to me. It has been an honor and privilege to care for you, and I wish you the best of health in the years to come.
