Dr. Wolters is board certified in orthopedic surgery and specializes in the treatment of all sports-related injuries, as well as the arthroscopic and open treatment of knee, hip, shoulder and elbow injuries. He has particular subspecialty interests in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and shoulder instability surgery, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and multi-ligament knee reconstruction and arthroscopic hip labral repair and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) surgery. In addition, he holds certification in the treatment of cartilage injuries of the knee with articular cartilage implantation and meniscal transplantation.
Raised in Quincy, Illinois, Dr. Wolters attended the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and competed on the varsity swim team. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and earned his Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. After medical school and orthopedic residency at Southern Illinois University, he completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at TRIA Orthopedic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he treated professional athletes from the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves and Wild. Dr. Wolters also treated collegiate athletes at the University of Minnesota and Gustavus Adolphus College.
